How prop firm payouts work
What a payout actually pays
A payout is your share of profit on a funded account under the prop firm's terms. That account is often simulated: the payout is a reward based on simulated trading results, not a withdrawal of the account's advertised capital.
The profit split divides eligible profit between you and the firm. Topstep states that you keep 90% on qualifying payouts; the firm retains the remaining share. A split does not make all account profit withdrawable. Buffers, caps, minimum amounts and payout eligibility still apply.
These terms were checked against official pages in October 2026. Challenges are paid simulated evaluations. Most traders do not pass, and the fee is usually lost when they fail. Before choosing, compare payout rules alongside account-loss rules.
Payout terms stated on each firm's pages
From each firm's official pages, checked Oct 2026. "Not stated" means the pages we read did not say.

| Intraday PA payouts require at least 5 qualifying trading days. | up to 100% | Evaluation purchase fees cannot be refunded, transferred, or changed. | |
| Growth requires 5 profitable trading days between payouts; Lightning requires 5 trading days | up to 90% | All sales final; no refunds on accounts, resets or other fees | |
| Weekly rewards every 7 calendar days after the first Master trade. | up to 100% | Program fees are non-refundable except where required by law. | |
| USD wire and ACH payments processed within 7 days. | up to 100% | Fees are non-refundable under the terms. | |

When you can request a payout
Request eligibility, approval and payment delivery are different stages. Passing an evaluation quickly does not establish how soon you can withdraw from the funded account.
- Topstep advertises requests in as little as 3 days. Its Standard payout path separately requires 5 winning days of at least $150. Confirm which path applies rather than treating the shorter claim as universal.
- Apex Intraday PA requests require at least 5 qualifying trading days. Apex Live allows daily requests; the pages we read do not state EOD PA request timing.
- Tradeify Growth requires 5 profitable trading days between requests, with account-size-specific daily thresholds. Lightning requires 5 trading days between requests. Select offers Flex or Daily policies, but the pages we read do not state their full timing requirements.
- Take Profit Trader PRO permits withdrawals from day one and daily, subject to its buffer rules.
- My Funded Futures Builder permits requests 48 hours after the first trade if all criteria are met. Rapid permits eligible requests every 24 hours above the buffer. Pro permits requests 14 days after the first trade, with the buffer cleared, and uses a 14-day cycle. Rapid EOD timing is not stated.
- LucidFlex requires qualifying profits on 5 separate days each cycle; LucidDirect requires 10 trading days. LucidDaily offers daily requests. LucidPro request timing is not stated. After approval, Lucid payments typically take 5–15 minutes through Plaid or up to 2 business days internationally.
- Alpha Futures states that approved Standard payouts are paid within 5 business days or less. That is delivery timing; its published pages do not state when requests first become eligible.
- FTMO's published pages do not state payout request timing.
- FundedNext lists a first withdrawal after 21 days and subsequent withdrawals after 14 days. Confirm the applicable model; separate Flex conditions also apply.
- The5ers lists bi-weekly funded withdrawals across programs. A newly scaled account resets the cycle.
- FundingPips lists weekly rewards every 7 calendar days after the first Master Account trade. Its 2 Step Flex lists bi-weekly rewards.
- E8 Pro describes daily payouts. E8's published pages do not state initial request timing for its other programs. USD wire and ACH payments are processed within 7 days; that is not an eligibility period.
- Breakout offers on-demand requests, 24/7, with most processed within hours.
- Trade The Pool requires at least 14 days from funded activation or the previous payout. Newly scaled account activation also starts the first-payout clock.
How much of the profit you keep
Compare the exact program, not just the firm name. An 'up to' split is a stated ceiling, not necessarily your starting share.
- Topstep Standard and No Activation Fee paths: 90% on qualifying payouts. Apex Intraday and EOD approved payouts: 100%; Apex Live: 90%.
- Tradeify Growth, Select and Lightning simulated funded accounts: 90% from the first payout. Elite Live: 80%. Take Profit Trader PRO: 80%; PRO+: 90%.
- My Funded Futures Builder and Pro: 80%; Rapid and Rapid EOD: 90%. LucidPro, LucidFlex, LucidDirect and LucidDaily: 90%.
- Alpha Futures Zero, Standard, Advanced and Direct: 90%. Zero explicitly states that this applies from the start without tiers.
- FTMO 2-Step: up to 90%; 1-Step: 90%. FundedNext Stellar 2-Step: 80%; Stellar Instant: 70% for Tiers 1 and 2, then 80% from Tier 3; Flex: 95%. Stellar 1-Step's split is not stated in the pages we read.
- The5ers Bootcamp: up to 100%; High Stakes: 80%–100%; Hyper Growth: 50% starting share. Its Futures Day Trade scaling example uses 80/20.
- FundingPips 2 Step Standard: up to 100%; 2 Step Pro weekly rewards: 80%; 2 Step Flex bi-weekly rewards: up to 95%. The pages we read do not state 1 Step Flex's split.
- E8 One and Pro: up to 100%; Signature: 80%; Zero: 80% or 100%, depending on the option. Breakout: 80% standard or a 90% checkout upgrade. Trade The Pool: 70% across the listed programs.
What can block or reduce a payout
A consistency rule limits how much profit can come from your largest day, trade or position. Check the denominator and stage: an evaluation rule is not automatically a funded payout rule. Concentrated winners can delay eligibility.
- Topstep's Standard path needs 5 winning days of at least $150. After the first Express Funded Account payout, its loss floor becomes $0. Check the remaining room for losses before withdrawing.
- Apex Intraday PA requires a $500 minimum request. No profitable day may represent 50% or more of profit since the last approved payout. Falling below the required balance after requesting causes automatic denial. The PA closes after 6 payouts.
- Tradeify Select removes consistency once funded, but its Flex or Daily payout choice is permanent. Lightning uses progressive consistency of 20%, then 25%, then 30%.
- Take Profit Trader PRO's buffer equals the account drawdown. Profits above it receive the 80% split. Withdrawing inside it closes the account and pays 50%. PRO+ has no buffer; the firm states there is no maximum withdrawal amount.
- My Funded Futures Builder limits the largest day to 50% of cycle profits, resetting after approval. Builder caps each simulated payout at $2,000, with up to 5 payouts. Pro lists a $100,000 cap. Rapid has no funded consistency rule but requires staying above its buffer.
- LucidPro requires a profit goal, consistency at most 40%, and profits above a non-withdrawable buffer. LucidDirect requires a profit goal and consistency at most 20%. LucidFlex has no funded consistency rule or payout buffer; LucidDaily has no funded consistency rule.
- Alpha Futures Qualified Zero and Standard accounts use 40% consistency; Advanced has none. Direct uses withdrawal profit targets and 20% consistency instead of winning days.
- FTMO 1-Step's Best Day Rule limits the best day to 50% of combined positive-day profit for reward eligibility.
- FundedNext Flex requires 5 Benchmark Days before every withdrawal. It allows withdrawal of up to 50% of accumulated profit, with size-specific caps of $1,500, $2,500 or $4,000, a $250 minimum and at least $500 current-cycle profit.
- FundingPips 2 Step Pro monthly rewards use 35% consistency, resetting after each reward. E8 One uses a 40% best-day rule; Pro has no consistency rule or payout caps. Zero removes consistency in Performance but has caps and a maximum of 5 payouts.
- Breakout has no consistency rule. Its minimum is $50 after the split, paid in USDC on Ethereum. Requesting immediately resets the account balance.
- Trade The Pool FLEX requires 3 profitable days of at least 0.5% each per payout cycle. Its listed position or trade concentration rules differ by program; confirm the funded-stage calculation.
When an evaluation fee comes back
FTMO states that the 2-Step evaluation fee returns with your first reward withdrawal after passing. The5ers states that its Futures evaluation fee returns after the third payout. Neither statement establishes a refund for every program at that firm.
Topstep says most fees are non-refundable. Apex, Tradeify, My Funded Futures and E8 state non-refundable fees; FundingPips allows exceptions where required by law. Breakout and Trade The Pool state that evaluation fees are non-refundable once trading begins. FundedNext explicitly excludes refunds for Stellar Instant.
The pages we read do not state an evaluation-fee refund for Take Profit Trader, Lucid Trading or Alpha Futures. They also do not establish refunds for the other FTMO, The5ers or FundedNext programs.
Check these terms before paying
- Confirm the exact funded program and payout path, including whether the choice is permanent.
- Check what starts the request clock and whether days must meet a profit threshold.
- Confirm your starting split, upgrades and any later tier changes.
- Check the consistency calculation, buffer, minimum request, caps and payout-count limit.
- Check how withdrawal changes your balance or loss floor.
- Confirm delivery method, processing time and any fee-refund trigger on the official page.
Questions people ask
Can I get a prop firm payout immediately after passing?
Passing and payout eligibility are separate. Apex evaluations have no minimum trading days, but Intraday PA payouts require at least 5 qualifying days.
Does a 100% split mean I can withdraw all profits?
No. Apex pays 100% of approved Intraday PA payouts, but balance requirements, a $500 minimum and consistency conditions still apply.
Which prop firms refund the challenge fee?
FTMO states a 2-Step fee refund with the first reward withdrawal. The5ers states a Futures evaluation-fee refund after the third payout.
Can withdrawing money close my funded account?
Take Profit Trader states that withdrawing inside the PRO buffer closes the account and pays a 50% split. Apex Intraday PAs close after 6 payouts.
