Futures prop firms compared

How we built this futures shortlist

We read official firm pages in October 2026 and compared drawdown mechanics, evaluation fees, activation fees, payout timing, and consistency rules. The firms appear in the same order as the comparison table, not in paid-placement order. Use those rules to build a shortlist rather than treating the first entry as the right choice for every trader.

Compare the specific plan, not just the firm name. Topstep offers monthly Trading Combines and one-time Labs evaluations with different loss rules. Tradeify Growth and Select differ on daily loss limits and consistency. My Funded Futures plans also have different requirements. A firm-level label can hide the rule that affects your strategy.

The account size is not your loss allowance. Topstep's 50K Standard Path has a $2,000 Maximum Loss Limit and a $3,000 profit target. Start with how much room you have before breaching the floor, then compare the target and fees.

Missing information is not permission or a waived fee. Apex evaluation purchase fees were not listed on the pages we read, and several firms' pages did not state weekend-holding or automation rules. Confirm unresolved details on the official page before paying.

Sorted by lowest listed fee, unknown fees last. Monthly fees are compared per month. This order is arithmetic, not a paid placement.

Alpha Futures uses end-of-day trailing floors that stop at the starting balance across its plans. Zero has no evaluation consistency rule but adds 40% on Qualified Accounts; Advanced uses 40% during evaluation and none once qualified. As listed in October 2026, 50K monthly fees are $139 for Zero, $129 for Standard, and $209 for Advanced. Zero has no activation fee. No evaluation time limit does not eliminate recurring monthly fees.

LucidFlex requires minimum daily profit on 5 separate days each cycle. LucidDirect requires 10 trading days, profit goals, and consistency of at most 20%. As listed in October 2026, LucidPro's 50K evaluation costs $192 one-time with no activation fee. Approved payment delivery is separate from meeting those requirements.

Take Profit Trader's Test uses end-of-day drawdown, no daily loss limit, and a minimum of 3 trading days. Its consistency rule does not fail the Test; you can continue trading to satisfy it. As listed in October 2026, the 50K Test costs $170 per month and standard PRO activation costs $130, although a separate promotion waives activation. PRO allows withdrawals from day one and daily, but funded news restrictions differ from the Test.

My Funded Futures changes the trade-off by plan. Builder has a $1,000 soft-pause daily limit and 50% payout-cycle consistency. Rapid and Pro use 50% evaluation-only consistency; Rapid EOD uses 30% and requires 4 evaluation trading days. As listed in October 2026, 50K one-time fees are $153 for Builder, $209 for Rapid, $225 for Rapid EOD, and $265 for Pro. All list no activation fee; Pro payouts follow a 14-day cycle.

Apex's main distinction is intraday versus end-of-day trailing drawdown. Intraday includes unrealized gains when moving the floor; EOD uses the closing balance and adds an evaluation daily loss limit. Both evaluations have 30 calendar days and no minimum trading-day requirement. Purchase fees were not listed on the pages we read. As listed in October 2026, Intraday activation costs $89 one-time; Intraday PA payout requests require 5 qualifying trading days.

What separates futures prop firms

Drawdown is the amount your account can lose before reaching its loss floor. A static floor stays fixed; a trailing floor rises as the relevant balance or equity grows. The adjustment timing matters because open profits can affect an intraday floor before you close the trade.

Evaluation speed and payout speed are separate requirements. Apex evaluations have no minimum trading-day requirement, but Intraday PA payouts require at least 5 qualifying trading days. Tradeify Growth can pass in 1 trading day, while its funded payout cycle requires 5 profitable trading days with account-specific daily profit thresholds.

  • Drawdown type: Apex Intraday follows peak balance in real time, including unrealized gains, and never moves down. Apex EOD recalculates from the closing balance. Topstep's regular Combine floor rises with end-of-day balance and locks at the starting balance; its Labs Static floor never moves. A fixed floor and a trailing floor that eventually locks are different rules.
  • Monthly versus one-time fees: As listed in October 2026, Topstep's 50K Standard Path costs $49 per month, Take Profit Trader's 50K Test costs $170 per month, and Tradeify's 50K Growth evaluation costs $145 one-time. A slower evaluation on a monthly plan means recurring fees. A one-time fee does not automatically mean unlimited access: Topstep Labs has a 90-day lifespan.
  • Activation fees: As listed in October 2026, Topstep Standard charges $149 once per Express Funded Account earned, while its No Activation Fee Path charges $0 on passing. Tradeify and My Funded Futures list no activation fees. Keep the post-pass charge separate from the evaluation fee so a lower entry price does not obscure the next payment.
  • Payout timing: Topstep says requests can begin in as little as 3 days; Take Profit Trader says PRO withdrawals are available from day one and daily. My Funded Futures Pro uses a 14-day cycle. Distinguish the earliest request, qualifying trading days, and payment delivery after approval.
  • Consistency rules: These limit how much profit can come from a single day, but the measurement differs by plan and stage. Tradeify Select uses 40% during evaluation and removes the requirement once funded. My Funded Futures Builder limits its largest profit day to 50% of payout-cycle profits. Occasional large wins may require more trading before you qualify.
  • Daily loss consequences: Tradeify Growth's daily limit is a soft breach: reaching it stops trading for the day without failing the account. Apex Intraday has no evaluation daily loss limit, while Apex EOD does. No daily limit does not remove the overall drawdown floor, so compare both controls.

Before you pay for a futures evaluation

Challenges are paid evaluations on simulated accounts. Most traders do not pass, and the fee is usually lost when they fail. Funded accounts are also simulated at most firms; passing does not automatically mean trading a live account. This comparison is not financial advice, and a payout schedule is not a promise of income.

  • Identify the exact plan and account stage. Write down evaluation and funded rules separately. Take Profit Trader permits news trading in the Test but prohibits trading during specific major news events in PRO and PRO+. Passing can change what your strategy is allowed to do.
  • Check what moves the floor. If your trades build substantial unrealized profit before giving some back, Apex Intraday's real-time trailing threshold deserves attention. Topstep Labs Static provides a fixed floor, but its mandatory daily loss limit and 90-day lifespan still apply.
  • Record the complete fee model before checkout. Confirm recurring charges, activation fees, and refund terms. Topstep says most fees are non-refundable; Apex, Tradeify, and My Funded Futures state non-refundable purchase policies. Take Profit Trader lists a standard PRO activation fee alongside a separate fee-waiver promotion, so confirm which terms apply.
  • Check payout conditions, not just headline timing. LucidFlex requires minimum daily profit on 5 separate days each payout cycle. LucidDirect requires at least 10 trading days plus profit goals and payout consistency of at most 20%. Fast delivery after approval does not shorten those eligibility requirements.
  • Match holding rules to your strategy. Tradeify prohibits overnight holding. My Funded Futures Builder requires positions to close before the session ends. LucidPro, LucidFlex, and LucidDirect have a daily position-closing cutoff. These plans do not fit a strategy that needs to keep positions open beyond the required closure time.
  • Resolve missing rules before paying. Topstep's pages did not state news-trading, weekend-holding, or automation rules in the material we read. Do not interpret an unstated rule as approval. Confirm current plan terms on the firm's official page, including changes since the October 2026 review.

Questions people ask

Which futures prop firms offer static drawdown?

Topstep Labs Static Drawdown Trading Combine has a fixed Maximum Loss Limit that never moves. Other listed plans use trailing floors that later lock, including Topstep's regular Trading Combine and Alpha Futures plans. A floor that eventually locks is not the same as a floor that stays fixed from the start.

Which futures prop firms have no activation fee?

Tradeify, My Funded Futures, and LucidPro, LucidFlex, and LucidDirect list no funded activation fees. Topstep offers a No Activation Fee Path and free Labs activation; Alpha Futures Zero also lists no activation fee. Compare evaluation fees too, because removing activation does not necessarily lower the entry cost.

How quickly can you get a futures prop firm payout?

Topstep says funded traders can request payouts in as little as 3 days, while Take Profit Trader says PRO withdrawals are available from day one and daily. Apex Intraday PA requires 5 qualifying trading days, and My Funded Futures Pro uses a 14-day cycle. These describe request eligibility or payout cycles, not a universal payment-arrival deadline.

Can you hold futures prop firm trades overnight?

Tradeify prohibits overnight holding, My Funded Futures Builder requires session-end closure, and LucidPro, LucidFlex, and LucidDirect have a daily position-closing cutoff. Weekend-holding rules were not stated on the Topstep, Apex, Take Profit Trader, and Alpha Futures pages we read. An unstated rule is not permission to hold.
