The short version

FTMO’s 2-Step challenge requires 10% profit in the Challenge and 5% in Verification, with at least 4 trading days and no time limit. FundedNext Stellar 2-Step requires 8% and then 5%, with 5 minimum trading days. Both use a static loss floor, a 5% daily loss limit, and a 10% maximum loss limit. FundedNext has the lower first-phase target; FTMO requires fewer trading days.

The differences widen outside those models. FTMO 1-Step has an end-of-day trailing floor and a Best Day Rule. FundedNext offers Stellar 1-Step, Stellar Instant, and Flex with different loss and payout rules. Compare the specific product, not just the firm. Challenges are paid evaluations on simulated accounts. Most traders do not pass, and the fee is usually lost on failure. Funded accounts are also simulated at most firms; FTMO explicitly states that all its accounts use fictitious funds.

Fees for comparable account sizes

For the two-step products, fees as listed in October 2026 are €250 at FTMO versus $199.99 at FundedNext for 25K; €345 versus $299.99 for 50K; and €540 versus $549.99 for 100K. These prices use different currencies, so the displayed amounts alone do not establish which costs less after conversion. FTMO’s 100K source also displays €439 alongside €540; confirm the checkout price.

Other two-step fees as listed in October 2026 are €89 for FTMO’s 10K account, and $59.99 for FundedNext’s 6K, $119.99 for 15K, and $1,099.99 for 200K. FundedNext’s 6K source also displays $34.99. Flex fees as listed in October 2026 are $133.99 for 50K and $483.99 for 150K, with $69.99 and $249.99 also appearing alongside them. Confirm those prices before paying.

These listed fees are one-time, not monthly. FTMO 1-Step offers 10K, 25K, 50K, 100K, and 200K accounts, but its pages do not state the fees in the material checked. The pages checked do not state separate activation fees. FTMO refunds its 2-Step fee with the first reward withdrawal after passing; its 1-Step fee is not refunded. FundedNext Stellar Instant purchase fees are not refundable.

How the loss floors work

FTMO 2-Step and FundedNext Stellar 2-Step both have static floors: the maximum-loss boundary stays fixed relative to the starting balance rather than rising with profits. Both list 10% maximum loss and 5% daily loss. A fixed floor lets profits add distance above that boundary, but the daily limit still applies. Holding a position does not remove either loss restriction.

FTMO 1-Step keeps a 10% maximum-loss allowance but uses an end-of-day trailing floor, which moves upward as the account grows. Its daily limit is 3%. FundedNext Stellar 1-Step also has a 3% daily limit, but its maximum loss is 6%; the pages checked do not state its floor type. Do not assume the same percentage means the same mechanics.

FundedNext Stellar Instant has no daily loss limit, but its 6% maximum-loss floor follows the highest recorded balance and stops at the initial balance. Flex also has no daily limit. Its trailing floor locks at $50,100, $100,100, or $150,100 for the corresponding account sizes. Flex loss allowances are $1,500, $2,500, and $4,000. On 50K, that is a 3% loss allowance against a $2,500 profit target, or 5%. A rising floor can leave less room for a held position to reverse; no daily limit does not mean no breach risk.

Reward shares and withdrawal conditions

FTMO lists up to 90% of simulated profits for 2-Step and 90% for 1-Step. Its pages checked do not state payout timing. FundedNext Stellar 2-Step lists an 80% reward share. FundedNext also lists a first withdrawal after 21 days and subsequent withdrawals after 14 days, but product-specific schedules differ, so do not apply that timetable to every account.

Stellar Instant pays 70% for Tiers 1 and 2, then 80% from Tier 3. You can request a reward on demand at 5% account growth, or after 14 days with at least 1% growth. Those conditions matter more than the absence of a challenge profit target.

Flex lists a 95% reward share, but requires at least 5 Benchmark Days before every withdrawal. You can withdraw up to 50% of accumulated profit per cycle, capped at $1,500, $2,500, or $4,000 by account size. The minimum withdrawal is $250, and the current cycle needs at least $500 profit. The pages checked do not state the Stellar 1-Step reward share.

News, holding, automation, and consistency

FTMO forbids gap trading by opening trades around scheduled market-moving news. FundedNext’s stated news rule here applies to Stellar Instant: trades on correlated pairs within 5 minutes before or after high-impact news receive credit for only 40% of profits, while losses count fully. These are different restrictions, not a blanket news-trading permission.

Stellar Instant explicitly allows overnight and weekend holding, with swap charges. FTMO’s pages checked do not state weekend-holding permission. FTMO permits automated strategies only when legitimate, consistent with real market conditions, and free of forbidden practices. Stellar Instant permits customized Expert Advisors, or EAs, that follow platform rules and do not exploit mechanics. Do not extend these Instant permissions to other FundedNext products.

FTMO 1-Step’s best day cannot exceed 50% of combined profits from profitable days, both for passing and reward eligibility. Stellar 2-Step lists no consistency requirement; Stellar Instant also has none. Flex lists a 40% consistency rule during the challenge only, but the pages we read do not state its calculation. FTMO prohibits third-party access or trading on your behalf; FundedNext CFD challenges cannot be shared, transferred, or used for third parties.

Which rules fit your trading

  • FTMO if you want its 2-Step static floor, no time limit, and 4 minimum trading days rather than Stellar 2-Step’s 5.
  • FundedNext if an 8% first-phase target fits you better than FTMO 2-Step’s 10%, while retaining the listed static floor and loss limits.
  • FTMO if its 1-Step 90% reward share matters to you and you can manage the 3% daily limit, end-of-day trailing floor, and Best Day Rule.
  • FundedNext if you need explicit weekend-holding permission: Stellar Instant allows it, with swaps, but still has a trailing loss floor.
  • FundedNext if Flex’s absence of a daily loss limit fits your trading, and you accept its trailing floor, challenge consistency rule, and withdrawal caps.
